First we measured the perimeter of the garden so that we knew how many logs we needed. Then, once we found the logs, we measured them to see how many we would need to fulfill our garden measurements.

Getting logs locally is appropriate. Instead of purchasing wood for the perimeter of our garden bed, reusing vigas was an appropriate decision because of the house building practices in Parras. Most of the houses in Parras have ceilings that are made of logs called vigas.  The vigas that we found and made our perimeter out of were from an old ceiling that had deteriorated and they were no longer functioning as part of the ceiling. So, we recycled them and they worked perfectly for our garden.
