Optimal Angle

Using trigonometry to find the optimal angle for the reflectors so maximum radiation is penitraiting through the glass when the solar box cooker is facing the sun.

Parrellel lines intersecting the same line create similar angles.

The angle of incidence = to the angle of reflection.

EQUATIONS:

(Sin a) / A = (Sin b) / B = (Sin c) / C

Sin c = C / B Sin (90-2c)

Sin c = C / B Cos (2c)

Using the same principles as above we plug in our knowns,

B = the length of the reflector = 8"

C = the length of the framed glass = 12.2 "

 Solve for a.

Graph Y = (Sin c) / (Cos 2c) = 12.5 / 8 = 1.5625

c = 34.4°         a = 124.4°      b = 21.2°
