To determine if adobe can in fact hold water, we want to build a "box" out of adobe bricks.  The box will have a bottom and 4 sides with the top open to the environment.  The adobe bricks will be built together using the same mixture of dirt, clay and water that is used to make the bricks (the way people in Parras construct their houses with adobe).  The interior of the adobe box will be sealed with an earthen plaster to try and prevent leaks in between the bricks.  The box will be built on a formation made out of wooden boards resting on old adobe bricks to keep the structure off the ground.  This way, when we fill the structure with water we can see if it leaks.
