Procedure
1)
Cut a hole for the door in barrel- at least
1 foot by 1 foot- shovel needs to fit in.
2) Cut out four concentric sections measuring 5 inches wide and 1 foot long- leave an inch of plastic between section - see picture 1.
3)
Drill holes at the corners and two in the
middle for the zip ties - see picture 2 & picture 3
4)
Cut a hole in the exact center on both sides
of the barrel- make sure it is big enough to snuggly fit the close nipple
5)
Place the close nipple inside the hole and
tightly fasten the lock nut on either side - see picture 4.
6)
Put the hardware cloth inside the barrel and
secure it with zip ties.
7)
Using scrap from the cuts in barrel, find
two pieces to serve as a stop for the door- a 4x4 inch square of plastic is fine- see picture 5 & picture 6.
8)
Secure them in place with bolts.
9)
Fasten the hinge to barrel and door - see picture 7
10) Fasten
door supports.
11) Drill hole through the top of all four
2x4s and through the middle of both 8 inch 2x4s- make the hole big enough for
the 5 inch bolt to fit through. see picture 8
12) Align the holes- lay one 3 foot 2x4 on
ground, on top of that place the 8 inch piece, then place the second 3 foot 2x4 on top of
that. Then screw in the 5 inch bolt fairly tight.
13) Screw
on floor gange see picture 9 & picture 10
14) Repeat
steps 12 & 13 for other side
15) Insert metal tube through barrel and screw into floor gange - see picture 11.
16) Drill
holes for handles and door supports and fasten with the 2 inch bolts - see picture 12
17) Make a door handle- I used a leather strap- but find something around your house and use it - see picture 13.
